Production Log: Monday 26th November

In today's lesson I carried on with my front cover. I made the improvements that my classmates gave me and my front cover met all the conventions needed for a pop magazine as it was bright and had sell lines and an eye catching main image. I also helped my friend who was struggling to remove the white background of one her photos as she didn't have much experience with using Photoshop and I do.

Production Log: Friday 23rd November

In today's lesson I continued to work on my front cover. As I had a double lesson I used this lesson to complete my front cover and ask for feedback. One of my feedback's was to make the masthead bigger and maybe have my main image covering the masthead slightly. Also I had to make my sell lines bigger as they were too small and they wouldn't catch the readers eye if they were passing by. Another feedback I got was to add an issue number as I hadn't included it.

Production Log: Monday 19th November

As I had completed all my tasks in my planning section I was able to carry on with my magazine. I focused my time on creating my front cover as this is the main page that needs to stand out to the target audience in order for the magazine to be bought and reader by my target audience. In today's lesson I started playing around with different types of font styles for my masthead but by the end of the lesson I still hadn't found the masthead that I liked, so I carried on creating some more at home. My aim for this week is to place my masthead on my front cover and work with my main image. I will be using Photoshop to edit my photo.

Headline/ Subheading/ Pull Quotes

I have been thinking of a headline and subheading the past few days and I thought that these would work well with my magazine because they stand out and catch the readers eye. However I may change them slightly when creating my magazine. I have chosen these three pull quotes as they stand out from the text and if the reader is just flicking through the magazine they will still see a glimpse of the article as these pull quotes will stand out to them.

Sketches of Ideas

Completing this task has helped me come up with ideas for my draft magazine. I will be using these sketches as a template when creating my magazine as it will help me visualise my magazine.

Production Log: Monday 12th November

Over the weekend I set myself some planning tasks that I hadn't already completed. I decided to complete sell lines and contents ideas and do my article draft. By completing these tasks will give me an advantage when creating my magazine as I will already have an idea of what to write in my magazine. However when it comes to putting these ideas in my magazine I may want to change them as I will have more ideas as throughout the planning and creating my magazine I will be getting inspiration off real magazines.

Article Draft

My creating an article draft will allow me to place the article onto Indesign in an easy format and which I will then be able to text wrap where necessary. When creating my double page spread I may feel the need to adapt to my article which will be fine as I have creating a draft copy which I can then use as a template for the actual magazine.

Production Log: Friday 9th November

In today's lesson I carried on working on my draft magazine. I started thinking about the layout of the magazine and the types of fonts to use because I found that the fonts that I had thought of using are too simple.  I then went through my photo shoot pictures to see which picture to use as my main image. As I didn't have a decent picture of both of my models together I used two images and joined them together.

Contact Sheet

Contact Sheet

By creating a contact sheet allows me to see all my photos in a clear format. I created three contact sheets as I did three photoshoots.

Production Log: October Half Term 2012

Over the October half term I completed a number of tasks. These tasks included name ideas, new media, promotional methods, props and costumes, colour and audience data. When creating my audience data analysis I used my results that I collected from my survey and I put them into a pie chart or bar graph. I used an online website to create a survey which allowed people to complete the survey where I then managed to  collect the results and create the bar graph and pie charts. This made it easier to analysis each question as I will then use these results in my magazine. I also designed some masthead ideas which will make it easier for me when creating my magazine as I will already have a brief idea of what to do. For my colour scheme I have used bright colours as in pop magazines you usually see lots of bright colours. Therefore I have I will be meeting the conventions of a pop magazine.

Timelapse

Above is my timelapse for my photo shoot. By having completed this task highlights the stages of my photo shoot and the making of my photos and how I have positioned my models. I have put a pop song of Rihanna's latest song over my timelapse which works well as it is calm.
